Dear Friends,
I would guess that you have seen and heard about the devastating earthquake that has brought horrific destruction and death to Haiti. There are two important ways we can respond that will be of significant help:
1. FAST & PRAY—I encourage you to join me in fasting and praying, beseeching God’s merciful intervention to bring relief and assistance to the people affected by this devastating earthquake.
2. SEND MONETARY GIFTS—The primary route I recommend for immediate relief is through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) because 100% of your gift will go to relief efforts with no administration fees taken out. You can send your gift through Glenwood or by going to www.umcor.org. On the UMCOR website there is a “Give Now” link. Another possible avenue for giving will be through the Good Samaritan Project which we supported with the Coins for Missions offerings in November. Unfortunately, in the wake of the disaster we have not been able to get in contact with them as of this writing.
There is certainly an immediate need for help in Haiti, and there will also be ongoing needs in addition to the severe poverty issues the country already was dealing with prior to the earthquake.
Let us not waiver in making good use of the avenue of help God has made available to us through prayer.
Praying with you,
Pastor Pat
PRAYER
The sanctuary will be open during the Sunday School hour for those wishing to spend quiet time in prayer. A prayer box is located at each sanctuary door for you to provide prayer concerns for worship,
for the Pastor, or for others who do prayer ministry.
PRAYER GATHERING will meet each Wednesday 1:15 p.m. in the Prayer Room.
We hope many that are able will join us to pray for our members.
